Artist Statement

I have always loved beads and have always loved things that sparkle and reflect light. I started out making beaded jewelry and decided to see what would happen if I strung beads and glued them down on canvas. The result is what you see in this show. Once I started, I couldn't stop. I love the different brilliant colors and shapes of glass beads and love the way each type of bead reflects light in a different way.

One of my favorite things about this body of work is how some of the subject matter is not immediately clear until you read the title or step back away from the work. Another favorite of mine for this work is how the pieces look different depending on the way the light hits the beads. I love the intimacy of the smaller pieces and the detail in the larger ones.

I hope you enjoy looking at the artwork as much as I enjoy creating it.
